Chester Cruz came away with a double-double performance while Roan Lee Ancheta, Acee Abar and Dwayne Fuentes provided the balance scoring production of Smile 360, which nipped San Beda, 72-68, in the 15-under division of the Philippine Youth Basketball Championship over the weekend at the Amoranto Sports Complex in Quezon City.
Cruz finished with 10 points on top of 14 rebounds as his solid presence on both ends of the court proved to be essential for the Bullies, who produced 36 points from points inside the paint, 12 more than their rivals.
Ancheta led the way with 19 points for the Bullies while Abar contributed 15 and Fuentes chipped in 13.
Migrafix Doc Boleros also picked up a win following a 73-60 triumph over Lev Construction Full Potential.
Riley Yuan dela Cruz played a solid, all-around performance for the Boleros, finishing with 15 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals.
Team, captain Khryz Alexandr Samson added 14 markers while Kaeden Pio Rapista chipped in 11 points for the Boleros, who scored 40 points coming off transition compared to only 17 for their rivals.
The Boleros also produced 44 points from their bench, 24 more than their counterparts.
San Beda’s younger players in the 13-under avenged their elder teammates from Mendiola after a 69-58 victory posted against TOPS Mordeno.
Andre Kitong proved to be unstoppable on both ends of the court as he poured in a double-double game of 27 points and 14 rebounds. Michael Coranes contributed 11 for San Beda, which produced 30 second-chance points, 23 more than its rival.
Chef’s Magic MLO dominated Smile 360, 57-38, in another under-13 division encounter.
Xander Dulfo completed a double-double game while his teammate, Ethan Suangco, fell a rebound short of achieving the feat, but the dynamic duo proved to be too much to handle for Chef’s Magic MLO.
Dulfo generated 14 points on top of 13 boards while Suangco he submitted 18 markers and nine boards.
Buena Foods pulverized Lev Construction Full Potential, 94-39, in the 11-under division.
