Returning Almond Vosotros made the most out of the opportunity given to him by TNT and for a player who bounces in and out of the roster, getting ready each game has always been his calling card.
In his comeback game for the Tropang 5G, he proved that he’s more than just an exceptional 3×3 player and deserved another shot at the big league when he provided the instant offense in his squad’s convincing 94-70 triumph over struggling NorthPort in the PBA Philippine Cup on Fridya at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Once the top player of TNT, for its 3×3 squad that won six championships in the PBA, Vosotros had proven himself to be an asset for a Tropang 5G squad, which needed to shore up its backcourt and immediately, he responded by producing 12 points in 16 minutes of action.
“An opportunity is still an opportunity and I’m thankful for Coach Chot (Reyes) and the coaching staff na nabigyan ulit ng another chance,” added Vosotros.
The hero of the Philippine men’s basketball team that won the Southeast Asian Games gold medal in Singapore was one among the top prospects when he entered the PBA in 2015, but couldn’t really find the right break in the big league until he found his niche in the 3×3 where he emerged as a star.
In the 3×3, he also won the gold medal in the SEABA Cup in 2016 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Moving forward, he vows to take advantage of every opportunity he gets, especially now that he needs to fill the huge voids left by marquee guards Jayson Castro and Rey Nambatac, who are both sidelined by injuries.
“Since nung nawala ako sa TNT, mas naging motivated ako na huwag kong pabayaan yung sarili ko,” added Vosotros. “Lagi kong pinagpi-pray na sana may tumawag sa akin, mabigyan ako ng another chance. Ngayon, ayokong sayangin yung opportunity.”
