After getting back on the winning track, Rizal muscled its way against Valenzuela and carved out a convincing 101-78 win on Wednesday night at the Ynares Center in Montalban, Rizal.
Eric Camson pumped in 16 points and five rebounds, but came up with an extraordinary effort on the hustle chart where he picked up five steals, allowing the Golden Coolers to notch back-to-back victories after tasting three straight defeats.
The loss was the eighth in 11 games for the Classic.
Camson and Samboy de Leon joined forces in Rizal’s third-quarter breakaway as they combined for 19 markers, as the Golden Coolers poured in a total of 37 points in that quarter alone to practically take the fight out of Valenzuela.
Earlier, Caloocan held Bacolod scoreless in the last two and a half minutes to pull off a 74-68 win.
Bacolod was clinging on to a 68-67 lead when the Batang Kankaloo made big stops after another.
Caloocan, then complemented their defensive gems with crucial baskets from Rommel Calahat and Joco Tayongtong.
Tayongtong ended up with 11 markers, including a big steal and back-to-back baskets that touched off the Batang Kankaloo’s hard-earned victory. Caloocan improved its win-loss record to 7-4.
Pasig outlasted Bataan in overtime, 88-85, to complete the victors in the three-game bill.
