Paul Lee’s prolific shooting from way deep kept the good times going for the Magnolia Timplados Hotshots, who coasted to their sixth consecutive win in the PBA Philippine Cup and added the Meralco Bolts to their list of victims following a 117092 beat down on Wednesday night.
Lee went 4-of-5 from the 4-point line and ended up with 27 points as Magnolia kept its unblemished mark and the solo leadership in this tournament dominated by its franchise for many years.
The old Purefoods franchise has won six All-Filipino titles and has been in the finals nine times in its first 10 seasons in the league (1988-1997).
This season, the Hotshots are making another serious run and look poised to restore that old winning legacy.
While Magnolia remains the hottest team in the Philippine Cup, the Road Warriors are on the rise, notching their fourth straight victory, capped by its 117-87 rout of Terrafirma in the other game.
Brandon Ramirez, the stocky but shifty forward of the Road Warriors, finished with 21 markers, but John Brylle Bahiuo overshadowed his performance with a double-double game of 17 points and 10 boards as NLEX improved its win-loss record to 5-1, solidifying its hold of the second spot.
