Philippines earns two berths in MLBB Women’s Invitational (MWI) at 2025 Esports World Cup

MOONTON Games has unveiled the slot allocation for a record-breaking 16 teams at the upcoming Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Women’s Invitational (MWI) at 2025 Esports World Cup (EWC). This edition will feature the tournament’s largest lineup yet, with newcomer regions—Africa, Mongolia, and Türkiye. Taking place from 15 to 19 July, MWI at EWC 25 will spotlight MLBB esports as a platform that champions inclusivity and empowers women esports athletes on the global stage.

MWI at EWC 25 will offer a USD 500,000 prize pool—one of the largest in women’s esports history. This edition sees the number of competing teams increase from 12 to 16, and qualifying regions grow from 46 to 57, further expanding the tournament’s global reach. For the first time, teams from Africa, Mongolia, and Türkiye will join the competition. Their participation shows the increasing global support for women in esports and reinforces MOONTON Games’ efforts to build a more inclusive ecosystem. Set on the world’s largest multi-title esports stage, the tournament will put the spotlight on women’s accomplishments and reinforce their #Limitless potential.

MWI 2024 marked a pivotal milestone in esports history as the only women’s tournament at the inaugural EWC last year. This was the first edition that featured teams from outside of Southeast Asia and became the most-watched edition with over 2.5 million Hours Watched, according to Esports Charts. MWI 2024 also made history by crowning Smart Omega Empress as champions after they defeated stalwarts Team Vitality and ended their 24-match winning streak which dated back to 2021. The Filipino team’s cup run highlights MWI as a competitive platform where women athletes can challenge the status quo, push boundaries, and reach the pinnacle of esports.
Speaking on the significance of the tournament, Ray Ng, Head of Esports Ecosystem at MOONTON Games, said: “At MOONTON Games, we believe that everyone has a place in esports. MWI at EWC 25 is our way of making sure women are seen, heard, and celebrated. The tournament serves as a platform for women to shine at the highest level and opens the door to esports as a viable career path. As we expand the tournament’s reach, we’re amplifying the voices of women worldwide. This is how we empower women esports athletes—by advancing the women’s ecosystem and breaking down barriers.”
