Stakeholders of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas will converge on Friday beginning 1 p.m. at the Event Center of the Meralco Gym for its annual meeting as important topics will be discussed concerning the cage governing body.
SBP president Al Panlilio disclosed to Pinoystep.com that several items are included in the agenda.
“It’s an annual meeting. Important agenda is the ratification of the changes in the bylaws,” added Panlilio.
There’s no election of officers from among the stakeholders as this will only happen in October, according to SBP executive director Erika Dy.
The SBP is going to have a busy month in store.
Aside from the draw scheduled for the 2027 FIBA Asian Qualifiers on May 13 where the Philippines awaits which group it will end up, the country’s basketball federation also braces for the country’s hosting of the FIBA U16 Asia Cup SEABA Qualifiers fropm May 24-30 in San Fernando, Pampanga.
“Sana maganda yung makuha nating draw on May 13,” said Dy.
“As for the coming FIBA Asia Cup U16 Asia Cup SEABA Qualifiers, we’re happy to have the event to be held in the country once again,” Dy added. “The Philippines also hosted in 2015 in Cagayan De Oro and in 2017 in Quezon City and now we’re excited to work with the Provincial Government of Pampanga, which we all know is one of the hotbeds of basketball in the country.”
