MPBL: Zamboanga, Caloocan, Biñan rip rivals

Playoff favorites Zamboanga, Caloocan and Biñan hurdled their respective rivals on Tuesday night to boost their chances in the MPBL 2025 Season at the Alonte Sports Arena in Biñan, Laguna.

The SiKat-backed Zamboanga team clobbered Pasig, 92-76, as JP Cauilan went on a shooting spree, hitting six three-point shots on his way to tallying 20 markers to lead the way for the Family’s Brand Sardines-owned franchise.

Zamboanga’s latest win helped the squad in picking up its seventh victory in nine games.

Caloocan survived Davao Occidental, 79-76, in a nip-and-tuck battle.

Rommel Calahat paced the Batang Kankaloo with 20 markers, including the insurance free throws in the last 23 seconds that virtually sealed the victory for the squad.

Calahat was at his finest in the third period where he poured in 13 points before homegrown Paul Hendrix Casin presided in the fourth period, knocking in 11 of his 19 markers for Batang Kankaloo, who now moved up to 6-3 after dealing the Tigers their second loss in four matches.

Host Biñan had an easier time disposing of Sarangani, 87-73, as Jaymar Gimpayan finished with a double-double performance of 14 points and 10 rebounds.
