The best of the best from the country’s archipelago — the islands of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao — will take center stage and aspire to become this year’s champion of the STI Sports Cup Basketball and Volleyball National Finals this June.
Six teams each in the volleyball and basketball events will take part representing their respective regions.
From June 8-10, participating squads in the women’s volleyball will slug it out at the Eusebio Tanco Gymnasium inside the Ortigas-Cainta campus. These STI schools are going to compete: Balagtas, Bulacan (Cluster 1), Global City (Cluster 2), Ortigas-Cainta (Cluster 3), Balayan, Batangas (Cluster 4), and West Negros University and General Santos City (Cluster 5).
Basketball teams take their turn from June 17-19 at the same venue with Balagtas, Bulacan (Cluster 1), Caloocan (Cluster 2), Ortigas-Cainta (Cluster 3), Balayan, Batangas (Cluster 4) and Koronadal, Cotabato and West Negros University buckling down to work.
West Negros University, a staple in the event with its sound sports program, is the defending champion both in the men’s basketball and women’s volleyball events. This powerhouse team from the Visayan region remains to be the gold standard among the teams competing here.
