Converge exec confirms Abueva set to reunite with old benefactor Coach Delta

It’s never too late for PBA veteran star Calvin Abueva to reunite with his old coach and benefactor, current Pampanga Vice Governor and Converge FiberXers head coach Dennis “Delta” Pineda.

Archen Cayabyab, Converge’s representative to the PBA board, confirmed the news to Pinoystep.com.

“Yes, it’s true,” Cayabyab responded via Viber message. “We’re just waiting for the (PBA’s) approval.”

As the clock struck before 5 p.m., Tuesday, the league approved the trade, formalizing the transfer of Abueva to the FiberXers’ camp.

Spin.ph’s Reuben Terrado first broke the news, reporting that ‘The Beast’ is headed to the FiberXers in exchange for Rey Suerte, King Caralipio and Mark Omega.

Cayabyab is also excited to see Abueva teaming up with talented rookie Juan Gomez de Liano as both players play with so much swagger.

Abueva was among the three players brought by Pineda to San Sebastian along with Ian Sangalang and Ronald Pascua. The fabled Pinatubo Trio led the Stags to a title run more than a decade ago when the squad was guided to the championship by former PBA MVP Ato Agustin.
