Dave Ildefonso, the face of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League, is busy preparing for the coming playoffs where his team, Abra Weavers are seeded No.1 to and ready to take on the upstart Ilagan Isabel Cowboys.
But even before the MPBL top gun plunges to action, Pureblends, which holds his playing rights, is busy shopping around for takers for the second generation cager.
Is Rain or Shine among those interested squads?
“Sino bang ayaw kay Dave Ildefonso?,” Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao told Pinoystep.com. “But if you’re going to ask me if there are discussions or talks on my end regarding Dave Ildefonso, walang ganun. At least on my end. It’s easy to link his name to us because his brother, Shaun is playing for us and because of that, the window is open.”
“It’s probably the same thing why Dave’s name was linked to Converge because his dad, Danny Ildefonso, is with the team. But there are no talks or discussions about Dave being traded to us, but we’re open to talk.”
Last season, NorthPort selected Ildefonso as its fifth overall pick in the Rookie Draft, but no agreement was reached between both camps.
Instead, the former player from the Korean Basketball League, who also played with Gilas Pilipinas a few years ago, ended up playing for the Weavers in the MPBL and immediately imposed his will in the nationwide basketball league founded by former Senator Manny Pacquiao.
The MPBL is entering the playoffs beginning Friday and will end the season by December.
Pureblends, which acquired NorthPort’s franchise, is reportedly on a lookout for teams willing for the services of Ildefonso.
