Just as expected, June Mar Fajardo captured yet another Most Valuable Player award, but his ninth plum came in runaway fashion, beating two other bidders — Robert Bolick of NLEX and Arvin Tolentino of NorthPort.
Still the league’s most dominant force, Fajardo won in all categories — stats, media and the players — for a grand total of 3041 in what was easily the most lopsided victory in the race for the MVP derby.
Bolick, the Road Warriors’ high-scoring guard, came in second with 1914, edging Tolentino with 1901.
Fajardo, Bolick and Tolentino were joined in the Mythical First Team by CJ Perez of San Miguel Beer and Calvin Oftana and TNT.
Also winning major individual awards were RJ Abarrientos and Joshua Munzon.
A third overall pick like his uncle Johnny Abarrientos, RJ achieved what his more illustrious old man failed to do by winning the Rookie of the Year award, besting Sedrick Barefield of Blackwater and Caelan Tiongson of Rain or Shine.
Munzon was chosen as the Most Improved Player awardee against two other aspirants — Adrian Nocum and Schonny Winston.
Gian Mamuyac of Rain or Shine was chosen for the league’s Sportsmanship Award.
In the All-Defensive Team, Fajardo also cemented his spot were he was joined by Munzon, Glenn Khobuntin of TNT, Zav Lucero of Magnolia and Stephen Holt of Ginebra.
