Tito Rex’s deals Capital first loss, grabs V-Cup solo lead

There’s a new sherif in town and that’s Tito Rex’s Firewire, which dealt Capital Basketball its first loss in the V-Cup 40 and above basketball tournament following an 82-65 victtory just recently at the AFP Wellness Center in Quezon City.

Paul Santiago played another steady game, hitting 7-of-10 from the field while surprise package Joel Yuga contributed 11  and Erwin Sta. Maria added 10 for Tito Rex’s Firewire, which notched its fourth win in five games to move up to solo lead of the standings.

Capital Basketball absorbed its first loss in four games.

Romeo Fullente and Melvin Arellano each tallied nine markers as Tito Rex’s Firewire shot a steady 50.7% from the field.

Tito Rex’s Firewire also produced 42 points inside the paint, which were 10 more than its counterpart.

Also winning were Exile and Firechief Fire Extinguishers, which both completed convincing victories over their respective rivals.

Alfie Grijaldo powered his way to 24 points and seven rebounds as Exile got back on the winning following a 111-95 victory over Saints Basketball.

Icey dela Cruz, on the other hand, played a near perfect game as he pumped in 19 points behind a prolific 8-of-10 shooting to power Firechief to a 108-88 bashing of IT Depot Tela.com.
