Powerhouse team CW Home Depot demolished erstwhile unbeaten squad Nutricare, 87-73, to grab solo leadership in Chinoy Liga Season 2 at the Winterpine Basketball Court in Quezon City just recently.
Hienrick Tan took a backseat offensively, but ended up with a double-double performance to lead the way for CW Home Depot, which picked up its fifth win in as many games and continued to serve notice of its title aspirations this season.
Tan finished with 10 points, but collared 13 boards in a solid, all-around performance. He was backed up by three other CW Home Depot players who wound up in double figures led by the athletic Art Andres.
Andres came away with 21 points, five rebounds, five steals and four assists in an electrifying performance that set the tone for his team’s more energetic game all match long. The high-flying guard was supported by EJ Lee’s near double-double output as well as Carl Yu’s steady game.
Lee submitted solid numbers of 15 points and eight rebounds to go along with two blocks while Yu, a solid presence on both ends of the court, also had impressive numbers of 11 points, five rebounds, six assists and two steals.
It was a dominant showing for CW Home Depot, which clobbered Nutricare in a collision of previous leaders.
But CW Home Depot came up with a good defensive game plan, particularly in limiting the production of the usually explosive Drei Hatamosa. The deadly gunner was silenced for nine markers and struggled offensively, shooting only 3-for-11 from the field.
Even reliable point guard Henrison Nash, who flirted with a near triple-double performance of 11 points, nine rebounds and eight assists, was also neutralized by the defense of Andres and Yu.
Undermanned Sunrise finally got back in the win column after a 107-90 beat down of Camco as Jharles Uy finished with a double-double showing of 29 points and 11 boards. Arman Ancheta led Sunrise’s point-production with 31 markers while Daryl Pa-alisbo also stepped up and ended up with 19.
