Cowboys continue to charge on, run roughshod over Greats

Winning four in a row has catapulted the Ilagan Isabela Cowboys in solidifying their playoff chances.

On Thursday night, the Cowboys kept charging on against every opponent standing on their way as they breezed past the Cebu Greats, 80-66, in the MPBL 2025 Season a MPBL at the San Andres Sports Complex.

Jayboy Solis had a breakout performance as a Cowboy, finishing with a near double-double game of 12 points and eight rebounds to go along with three assists as the player picked up by the squad during the wheeling and dealing period is now making his presence felt for his new team.

Josh Guiab and Mark Dyke each produced 11 markers for the Cowboys, who now improved their win-loss record to 11-8.

The Cowboys scored 26 points from points coming off turnovers, which were 14 more than their rivals. Ilagan Isabela also generated more points from their second stringers — 41 — which were 20 points better than Cebu as coach Louie Gonzalez’s troops showed their depth.

The Quezon Huskers, the league’s reigning southern division champion, blew past the Bacolod Turbo Slashers, 85-74, with veteran swingman and former Most Valuable Player Gab Banal providing the spark.

Banal hit four treys on his way to tallying 13 markers, allowing the Huskers to nail their 16th win in 19 games.

Similarly having an easier time disposing of their counterparts are the Knights of San Juan, who blasted the Manila Batang Quiapo, 88-61.

Mike Calisaan had a near perfect game, hitting all but his nine attempts from the field as the Knights booked their 18th win in 19 games.
