Luanzon FCAAI MVP; Yap, Bono crack Mythical First Team

PBA champion Christian Luanzon will have another milestone to be added to his list of accomplishments — even after retiring playing professional basketball.

On Wednesday night, Luanzon, who leads his alumni team St. Stephen High School in the Fil-Chinese Athletic Association Inc. 40-and-Up tournament, was chosen as the unanimous choice to win the Most Valuable Player award, joining an elite group that includes two-time PBA MVP James Yap, Ken Bono, Leo Canuday and Rhagnee Sinco of Hua Siong College of Iloilo.

A member of the 2007 Alaska champion squad then being handled by Tim Cone, Luanzon brought his A-game in this tournament that has attracted attention from long-time basketball fans.

“Playing in your 40s, playing in high intensity games, especially down the stretch, magpa-practice, kakain after practice, and it turned out to be obviously, a competitive league,” said Luanzon. “We could wish the league more power in the seaosns to come. May the Lord bless our league.”
