Sason’s trey lifts Bataan over ‘Munti’; Pampanga, Basilan score in MPBL

Yves Sason came through with a game-winning three-point shot with a second left to lift Bataan to a tense 77-76 squeaker of Muntinlupa in a wild and wooly finish in the MPBL 2025 Season Wednesday night at the Orion Sports Complex.

Needing a basket in a hurry right after the Risers got a big break when Domark Matillano couldn’t control the rebound off a deliberately missed free throw from John Capulong, Bataan set up Sason coming off a baseline inbound play.

Much credit should also be given to  Jamil Gabawan, who set up a solid screen that set up the dead shot shooter to receive the pass and free himself for the game-winning triple from right quarter court.

Sason’s basket sent the hometown crowd in a frenzy as the Risers notched their third win in eight games while dealing the Cagers Lakan their first loss in five matches.

Pampanga similarly carved out a hard-earned 94-90 triumph over hard-fighting Mindoro while Basilan outplayed Caloocan, 92-82, in the other game.

Team captain Archie Concepcion erupted for 31 points to lead the Giant Lanterns in securing their sixth win in seven matches.

Another Concepcion, Sherwin, shone bright in Basilan’s latest triumph as the former PBA draftee knocked in 22 markers to lead Portmasters to their latest win.
