McDavid downs undermanned Steelworld, captures JHBL crown

In the end, it’s McDavid which came out as champion of this season’s Jersey Haven Basketball League.

The tournament’s No.1 team in the elimination round resumed unfinished business and got the job done by winning the last two games of its best-of-three championship series with Steelworld to romp away with the crown on Wednesday night at the 3rd Lab Fitness Gym in Tomas Morato, Quezon City.

Facing an undermanned, banged up Steelworld team that played without injured star guard Mark Ong, McDavid came out business as usual in scoring a 73-66 win in their no tomorrow encounter.

Mark Chan was a solid presence all game long, finishing with 23 points and 17 rebounds and went home with the Finals Most Valuable Player award.

Mike Yu added 17 markers while Carl Cua chipped in 11 points and Jeff Lugay contributed 10 for McDavid.
