The Pilipinas Super League can now be considered as the newest stakeholder of Philippine basketball.
This developed after the PSL has been granted membership by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pillipinas, the country’s cage governing body.
An email sent by the SBP to the PSL dated April 23 confirmed the league’s acceptance as the basketball federation’s newest member.
“We are pleased to inform you that membership with the SBP as an associate member has been officially approved during the SBP’s special board meeting with the board of trustees last 25 March,” wrote the SBP.
“In this regard, the SBP Executive Director would like to set up a meeting with you to welcome you to the SBP family and set expectations between your organization and that of the federation.”
The PSL has just finished its previous season last April 16 with Quezon emerging as the latest champion. The league is also conducting qualifying tournaments to its biggest ever event to be held this year — the Global Championship Challenge to be held on July 14 featuring teams composed of Filipino players based overseas from the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Italy, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand.
Also lined up in the PSL’s calendar is the Commissioner’s Cup and the Philippine Cup.
