Caloocan beat Alpha Omega black and blue, 115-69, in the PSL President’s Cup and coasted its way to the Elite Eight of the PSL President’s Cup at the Filoil-EcoOil Centre.
Following their latest win, the Supremos set up a quarterfinal round showdown with the Quezon Titans, beginning Monday.
The Supremos asserted their might in rebounding, grabbing 57 caroms as against 28 for the Kings.
Even more superior was Caloocan on getting points inside the shaded lane as they scored 60, 38 points more than their counterparts.
But for coach Alex Angeles, who just took over as mentor of the squad at the latter stretch of the tournament, the veteran-laden Supremos were able to adapt to his system quickly than expected.
“To be honest, hindi ako nahirapan sa kanila,” said Angeles, who also guided Bacoor to a deep playoffs run in the MPBL last season. “Mataas yung basketball IQ nila. The moment I shared to them na ‘ito yung defense natin’, madali silang naka-adjust.”
