Former Davao Occidental coach Don Dulay is taking over as new mentor of Nueva Ecija.
This was confirmed by no less than Jerson Cabiltes, the coach who led Nueva Ecija to winning championships in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League and the Filbasket.
Cabiltes posted his resignation on social media, thanking Nueva Ecija.
”You asked for my hustle, I gave you my heart,” posted Cabiltes on Facebook. “Paalam, Nueva Ecija. Maraming salamat Novo Ecijanos.”
Dulay, a former player of Rain or Shine in the Philippine Basketball Association, is taking over his spot.
He served as a consultant for Cabiltes in the PSL, but previously handled Makati in the MPBL.
But Dulay was also a champion coach in the MPBL, leading the squad to the Southern Division title in the 2018-2019 season then eventually the national title the following season.
A former Coach of the Year, Dulay looks forward to continue Nueva Ecija’s winning legacy, but os also excited to bring in a new culture.
”I’m very excited for this new challenge. I’m excited to share my defensive mindset and culture to Nueva Ecija,” wrote Dulay via Messenger to PINOYSTEP.COM.
