The Nueva Ecija Capitals went business as usual as they dumped the NKT Sniper, 90-81, in coach Jerson Cabiltes’ final game as their coach.
Playing with less fire on the eve of Cabiltes’ resignation, the Capitals were still able to come away with a victory with Byron Villarias presiding on the team’s offense.
Everyone was feeling off except for
Villarias, who knocked in nine three-point shots on his way to finishing with 31 points while Eman Calo contributed 19 as they combined forces to make up for the sub-par showing of their other players.
A cousin of Kiefer and Thirdy Ravena, Villarias flirted with a double-double performance as he also pulled down nine rebounds.
Nevertheless, Nueva Ecija was still able to book its 15th win in 16 games while keeping NKT winless after 15 games.
