In the battle between two Warriors, Novaliches started the game aggressively, but Cam Norte ended the game stronger.
As a result, Cam Norte came out with plenty to spare and preserved a 102-100 victory Thursday night in the PSL President’s Cup at the Filoil-EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
Denzel Wong and Wowie Escosio stepped up big and provided more than what James Martinez asked for while another veteran player, JP Belencion also came away with solid contributions for Cam Norte, which notched only its second win in 12 games while dealing Novaliches its eight loss in 14 matches.
Wong caught fire in the second half and his barrage of treys allowed Cam Norte to pull away from a tight first half.
He finished with 25 points, including seven three-point shots.
Escosio was an imposing presence underneath and he came away with a double-double performance of 20 points and 13 boards for Cam Norte, which bit a total of 16 three-point shots.
But while Wong and Escosio were doing their thing offensively, Martinez continued his brilliant all-around performance in this tournament, tallying yet another triple-double showing.
He ended up with 17 points, 16 assists and 12 rebounds, but more importantly helped his team in winning the game.
Belencion contributed 14 markers.
