Medyo minamalas lang kami nung first half, we could not shoot those easy baskets, pero sabi ko okay lang \u2018yan, as long as we\u2019re defending that way, okay lang, papasok din yan eventually,\u201d said NU head coach DA Olan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYun yung good thing na nangyari sa amin at nagpanalo sa amin for the past few seasons. It\u2019s really just continuing what we\u2019re good at, which is yung depensa namin,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Ateneo was without Nigerian center Sarah Makanjoula, who served a one-game suspension after committing two Category 2 unsportsmanlike fouls in the Blue Eagles\u2019 84-77 victory over Far Eastern University last Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The absence was felt immediately, as Ateneo\u2019s only field goal of the third quarter came from reigning two-time UAAP MVP Kacey dela Rosa with 43 seconds left in the frame.<\/p>\n<p>NU quickly dashed any hopes of a comeback, as inside hits by Marylene Solis and Surada, coupled with a reverse layup by Marga Villanueva, extended the lead to 62-40 with just over four minutes remaining.<\/p>\n<p>Following up on an 83-79 first-round win on October 18, this victory also marked NU\u2019s 21st straight triumph over Ateneo dating back to Season 76 in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The Blue Eagles last defeated the Lady Bulldogs in the second round of Season 75.<\/p>\n<p>Surada came close to Season 88\u2019s first triple-double, finishing with 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting, 11 steals, and nine rebounds.<\/p>\n<p>Tin Cayabyab contributed 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting, along with three assists and three steals, while Villanueva added 11 points, three rebounds, two assists, and one steal.<\/p>\n<p>Betanio overcame an early injury scare to tally nine points on three triples, six rebounds, five assists, and two steals.<\/p>\n<p>With the loss, Ateneo remained in third place but dropped to a 5-3 record.<\/p>\n<p>Dela Rosa led the Blue Eagles with 18 points, scoring 16 of them in the first half on 5-of-11 shooting, adding 15 rebounds, two steals, two blocks, and one assist.
