The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) has tapped Tayabas town in Quezon as a new regional training center for CALABARZON, following the signing of a Usufruct Agreement between PSC Chairman Pato Gregorio and Quezon Governor Helen Tan for the use of a 10-hectare property along Brgy. Baguio.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
A multi-purpose sports complex will soon rise in the area, starting with a track and field oval, football field, gymnasium, training center, and diamond fields for softball and baseball.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
These facilities will be developed gradually with other sports facilities to expand the town\u2019s capacity as a hub for grassroots and elite sports.<\/div>\n

\u201cThe said project is expected to strengthen sports development and provide greater opportunities for athletes in CALABARZON to excel in their respective fields,\u201d Governor Helen Tan said.<\/div>\n

Chairman Gregorio also emphasized his plan to establish the site as a softball and baseball hub, reviving the country\u2019s rich tradition in these sports, which flourished as far back as the 1900s.<\/div>\n

\u201cMahilig kasi ang Quezon, Batangas, Cavite, at Laguna sa softball. So, gagawin natin itong softball at baseball hub, \u2018yung national team dito mag-te-training, dito \u2018yung mga competition, at dito maglalaro \u2018yung mga bata,\u201d said Chairman Gregorio.<\/div>\n

This initiative supports President Ferdinand \u201cBongbong\u201d Marcos Jr.\u2019s directive to make sports more accessible within communities and expand grassroots platforms for cultivating more national athletes.<\/div>\n
