Slaughter suited up and stayed on the bench while trying to absorb the Stars’ system like sponge.<\/p>\n
But the mere presence of the seven-foot slotman on the bench proved to be infectious for the rest of the Stars as Shawn Umali and Carl Bryan Cruz provided the 1-2 punch for Manila.<\/p>\n
Umali had a near perfect game, finishing with 19 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the field while also pulling down seven rebounds.<\/p>\n
Cruz, on the other hand, had a double-double showing as the former Gilas cadet wound up with 15 markers on top of 10 boards.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Slaughter told Pinoystep.com that he is still getting to know his teammates better while also working on his conditioning.<\/p>\n
It will only be a matter of time before ‘Gregzilla’ makes his MPBL debut.<\/p>\n
Also winning on Friday were Nueva Ecija and Sarangani.<\/p>\n
The Rice Vanguards of Nueva Ecija toyed on the Bulacan Kuyas, 105-66, as they shot an amazing 60% clip from the field (39-of-64).<\/p>\n
