SMB’s streak spills over after long lull, posts 6th win in a row with beat down of TNT

San Miguel Beer picked up from where it left off, winning convincingly against perennial rival TNT, 110-95 as the PBA Philippine Cup resumed after a three-week break.

In front of a good-sized crowd at the Ynares Center in Antipolo Friday night, the Beermen poured their might against a team it defeated in last year’s finale and all the reigning champion needed was one big burst in the third period to finally put away the Tropang 5G.

San Miguel outscored TNT, 39-14, to turn things around and book its sixth straight win of the tournament. The Beermen now improved their win-loss mark to 6-2 in a four-way logjam on top along with Converge, NLEX and Rain or Shine.

Earlier, Converge moved up on the standings following a 114-97 triumph over Magnolia, but in clinching their latest win, the FiberXers had to pay a heavy price of missing Justin Arana, who tweaked his ankle in the closing stage of the match.
