After solid debut, PBA rookie Lemetti’s next goal is to stay consistent

He may not be the first player to score the PBA’s first four-point shot but rookie Felix Lemetti became the first newcomer to complete a four-point play in the league this season.

In his debut game, Lemetti quickly made an impact, not only by showing his basketball IQ and heady play making skills, but also his abilities to knock down deep shots from beyond the arc — and more.

“It felt great,” Lemetti wrote via Messenger to Pinoystep.com. “It always feels good to be able to help the team in any way I can and doing it like that for my first points was special for sure.”

Lemetti buried a trey in the 4:44 mark of the second period of a foul from fellow rookie DJ Mitchell and that kept his confidence going throughout the game.

Growing up in Sweden where he also honed his basketball skills more, Lemetti made sure he would enter the PBA ready even in his first season and he was fortunate to land a spot with a Rain or Shine team being coached by multi-titled coach Yeng Guiao.

Lemetti finished with 11 points in 17 minutes of action.

With Rain or Shine, the rookie guard believes everyone on the team can thrive since they’re all being given equal opportunity, either you’re a newcomer or a veteran in the squad.

“You always have to be ready, especially with the rotation that we have in our team,” added Lemetti. “I feel like I prepare well for games and practices so I can always be ready.”

“It’s always great to be able to get opportunities as a rookie but I’m still learning and adjusting to the game over here and my biggest goal is to stay consistent throughout the season so I can help the team achieve the goals we have set out.”
