For the second straight game, Rain or Shine flirted with disaster before pulling off another tense win on Friday even as reigning UAAP champion La Salle carved out a hard-earned victory in the Kadayawan Invitational Tournament at the UESP Gym in Davao City.
Gian Mamuyac was solid on both ends of the floor and wound up with 19 markers to pace the Elasto Painters, who escaped with a 104-102 triumph against the hard-fighting Phoenix Fuel Masters.
It was the second straight game that the Elasto Painters won by one possession.
On Thursday, the Elasto Painters survived the Green Archers, 106-105.
Aaron Fuller proved to be a good fit for the Elasto Painters as he provides the inside presence the team needs and against the Fuel Masters, he was virtually unstoppable, pumping in 33 points and pulling down 18 rebounds.
Earlier, La Salle outlasted Converge, 120-112, as CJ Austria, EJ Abadam, Michael Phillips and reigning UAAP MVP Kevin Quiambao making key contributions in helping the Green Archers in completing a come-from-behind victory.
