McAloney stays with Nueva Ecija in MPBL

Will McAloney isn’t going anywhere and will be staying in Nueva Ecija after all for the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.

The franchise player dispelled rumors that he’s headed to another team just like the other former key members of Nueva Ecija, which left the squad in the midst of its campaign in the just concluded Pilipinas Super League President’s Cup.

Rumors about McAloney bolting out Nueva Ecija’s camp swirled when some of the team’s previous marquee players decided to leave the team and follow its previous coach, Jerson Cabiltes, now the mentor of expansion team Pangasinan, at the Heatwave camp.

Among the former key players of Nueva Ecija who is now with Pangasinan include Michael Mabulac and Hesed Gabo while several other former members are now playing in other teams.

“Under contract po ako sa Nueva Ecija,” wrote McAloney in response to Pinoystep.com via Messenger.

McAloney has become Nueva Ecija’s franchise player the past two seasons.

Two years ago, he cracked the MPBL’s Mythical Team while helping the team in winning the championship.

While playing for Nueva Ecija, carrying the moniker Capitals in the PSL, McAloney was adjudged the Best Player of the Conference and towed his team all the way to the championship round before losing to eventual champion Quezon Titans.
