CALASIAO, PANGASINAN — Not even the punishing stretch, the long travel nor the University of Luzon Golden Tigers can slow down the Pikemen of St. Dominic.
On Friday, the Pikemen were business as usual and added the gracious hosts to their growing list of victims following an 85-78 triumph in the NCRAA men’s basketball tournament’s return up north.
None among the Pikemen felt much comfortable playing here than Edward Daquioag, younger brother Ed, who is now playing in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League for the Pangasinan Heatwaves.
The Daquioag brothers were born in Dingras, Ilocos Norte, a few hours away from Calasiao, and the younger cager came out all locked in and finished with 22 points to lead the way for the rampaging Pikemen, who posted their fifth win in eight games and remained in the upper half of the standings in Season 30 of this event.
Four more Pikemen ended up in double figures with Ivan Ares contributing 15 points, Chad Amante and Eds Villena adding 12 points apiece and Russel Bunagan scattering 10 markers in a display of balance firepower for the Bacoor-based school.
All in all, St. Dominic produced 38 points from players coming off the bench, 25 more than their counterparts.
Also winning were De La Salle-Dasmarinas and Olivarez College.
The Sealions of Olivarez upstaged AIMS Blue Sharks, 76-71, while DLSU Patriots subdued Bestlink College, 94-87.
