DAVAO – After a setback at the Apo Golf Classic, Mafy Singson is poised to bounce back stronger in the ICTSI Palos Verdes Championship, which begins today (Tuesday, March 19) at the Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club here.
In her recent pro debut, Singson’s title aspirations were dashed by a single hole, where a triple bogey on No. 6 of Apo course proved costly, ultimately allowing Sarah Ababa to snatch victory from her grasp.
However, rather than dwell on the disappointment, the former national team mainstay remains undeterred and is fully focused on the challenge that awaits her at Palos Verdes.
“Keep my cool and be more patient,” said Singson, reflecting on the lessons learned from her recent setback. “I’ll just have fun and hope to play my best.”
Ababa, fresh off her triumphant performance at Apo, leads the 19-player field, upbeat of her chances for another championship in the 54-hole tour sponsored by ICTSI and organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc.
But contenders like Mikha Fortuna, Harmie Constantino and Florence Bisera are also eager to excel on the broader yet equally demanding course at Rancho Palos Verdes, ensuring another spirited battle for top honors in the P750,000 event supported by PGTI official apparel Kampfortis Golf.
However, all eyes will be on Lois Kaye Go, who is determined to redeem herself following a disappointing pro debut that saw her finish in 10th place.
Despite the challenges, Go remains unwavering in her commitment to improving her performance and leaving her mark at Palos Verdes.
The tournament promises to deliver thrilling competition with Chihiro Ikeda, Pamela Mariano, Marvi Monsalve, Gretchen Villacencio, Rev Alcantara, Miya Legaspi, Apple Fudolin, Kristine Fleetwood, Eva Miñoza, Lucy Landicho, Laurea Duque, Annika Cedo and Velinda Castil rounding up the field.
After the two-leg Davao swing, the LPGT, supported by Kampfortis Golf, the official apparel of PGTI, moves to Cavinti, Laguna for the ICTSI Caliraya Springs Championship on April 9-12.
