Alfred Flores, the hero of last year’s championship run of Immaculada Concepcion College, picked up from where he left off.
The shifty guard knocked in 26 points and sparked the Blue Hawks’ 73-60 triumph over Bestlink College of the Philippines Kalasag in the NCRAA men’s basketball tournament’s 30th season Friday at the BCP Gym.
Flores hit 9-of-16 attempts from the field, including four three-point shots as he proved to be too much against the opposing guards.
Nearly overshadowed by Flores’ sizzling performance was Totoy Ramirez’s double-double effort as the well-built swingman came away with 10 points on top of 10 boards.
ICC scored 18 fast break points, nine more than its rival.
With the win, the Blue Hawks improved their win-loss record to 2-2.
Also winning Friday were Philippine Merchant Marine School and Asian Institute of Maritime Studies.
The Mariners ran roughshod over University of Luzon, 81-61, while the Blue Sharks outlasted the hard-fighting St. Dominic College of Asia Pikemen, 59-55.
