The Capitals of Nueva Ecija ran roughshod against an undermanned, overmatches Mustangs of MisOr, 105-79, to get back in winning ways in the PSL President’s Cup.
Putting their first loss in the tournament against the Biñan Tatak Gel, the Capitals returned to their winning ways by easily disposing of a Mustangs squad orphaned by its floor leader, Reynel Hugnatan.
Hugnatan was unable to play for the Mustangs as he joined the Meralco Bolts, who competed in the East Asia Super League where he served as one of the assistant coaches.
Rudy Lingganay was another key player who was unable to suit up Thursday’s game at the Caloocan Sports Complex, and the Capitals took advantage.
Using their fast-pace game, Nueva Ecija was able to score 25 points on fastbreaks, 13 more than their counterparts.
The Capitals likewise imposed their will inside the shaded lane where they produced 70, compared to only 30 for the Mustangs.
With the win, Nueva Ecija improved their record to 12-1 while dealing the Mustangs their sixth loss in 12 games.
