11 games and counting for unstoppable Capitals

For 11 games, Nueva Ecija has remained invincible in the PSL President’s Cup.

The Capitals continued to assert their dominance and served notice of their title aspirations as they blew past one team after another.

Cam Norte was Nueva Ecija’s latest victim as the league’s powerhouse squad ran roughshod against its opponent, 111-90, Saturday night at the Filoil-EcoOil Centre in San Juan.

So superb was Nueva Ecija’s firepower it drew double-digit production from six players led by Byron Villarias, who knocked in 17 markers as the cousin of Kiefer and Thirdy Ravena played one of his most productive games in the tournament.

Rob Celiz and Will McAloney each scored 13 markers, Nathaniel Cosejo and Kris Harvey Pagsanjab contributed 12 apiece and Michael Juico chipped in 10 for the Capitals, who scored 78 points inside the paint, 26 more than their rivals.

Even more superior was Nueva Ecija’s bench as its reserves produced 75 points compared to 46 by Cam Norte.

The Capitals completed their domination when they dished out 40 assists, 12 more Cam Norte, and picked up 17 steals, which most of the time led to turnovers, allowing Nueva Ecija to score 27 from those miscues.

Following its latest win, Nueva Ecija continued to stay on top of the leaderboard.
