MLO, San Beda dispute semis berth as Spartans, San Beda clash for PYBC quarters slot

Chef’s Magic MLO Basketball U13 and JPM-TEC San Beda, as well as Spartans San Beda Alabang U15 and San Beda University, are set to lock horns as the 2025 Philippine Youth Basketball Championship (PYBC) Playoffs shift into higher gear this weekend.

Game time is at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Amoranto Sports Complex in Quezon City, where MLO Basketball and San Beda will battle in what is expected to be an all-out Under-13 semifinal showdown in the Benjie Paras-led PYBC.

“Go hard lang po kami sa training and focus pa rin kami sa depensa,” said Xander Dulfo, the PalawanPay Best Player of the Game in MLO’s 80-45 quarterfinal win over EMDS Rizal Knights, where he tallied 14 points, nine rebounds, and two steals.

Just as determined is San Beda, which rode Andre Kitong’s 24 points, 10 rebounds, four steals, and three assists to an 82-67 victory against Aces Solar Locked In in the quarters.

Still in the U13 division of the PYBC, which is supported by PalawanPay, Cherifer, Chronos, and Chooks-to-Go, Jet’s Barbershop faces the Smile 360 Bullies at 7:00 p.m.

Jet’s previously eliminated the GTG Foundation Los Baños Gallants, 75-65, behind Yubert Enciso’s 14 points, six rebounds, five steals, and three assists, while Smile 360 ousted TOP Mordeno.

In the Under-11 semifinals of the PYBC — which is also backed by Aces Solar, Goodday Friz, Oak Group of Companies, Smile 360 Dental Clinic, Team Access – Official Nike Partner, and Daily Essentials — Converge Super Fiber x Coach T will take on Taho Story Sigma at 2:30 p.m.

Converge dominated RWE Jaba Medical, 108-49, in the quarters with Blake Luna leading the way through his 19 points, four rebounds, and four steals. Taho Story advanced after defeating Grupong Bedista & Co., 59-36, with Rob Celiz posting 10 points and two boards.

Also in U11, Spartans will battle Buena Foods JSKLLBBLLDVT at 4:00 p.m.

The Spartans eliminated D2M Sportswear Grind, 77-65, thanks to Christian Jacob Tan’s 23 points, five assists, and four steals, while Word Topacio powered JSKLL past Lev Construction Full Potential, 62-49, with 11 markers.

Over to the Under-15 division, Bedan bragging rights will be at stake as Spartans San Beda Alabang and JPM-TEC San Beda collide at 1:00 p.m. in the quarterfinals.

The winner will face Prime Ascension Medical Supplies San Anton in the U15 semis on Sunday, December 7, at 9:30 a.m. at the Villar Coliseum in Las Piñas.

Completing the U15 semifinals bracket, the Smile 360 Bullies will take on Migrafix Doc Boleros, also on Sunday, at 8:00 a.m.

Smile 360 eliminated Migueluz Trading Mordeno via an 87-59 win, while Migrafix secured its semifinals berth with a narrow 76-74 victory over Lev Construction Full Potential.
