V-Cup cager Tubid embraces bigger role as new Terrafirma head coach in PBA

After Willy Wilson, another V-Cup player is set to take a bigger challenge coaching a team in the Philippine Basketball Association — multi-titled player Ronald Tubid.

Tubid, who previously worked as a team executive of Terrafirma, has just been appointed as the new head coach of the Dyip for the coming PBA 50th season, just a few weeks after Wilson has been delegated as the new mentor of the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters.

Tubid and Wilson are teammates in the V-Cup, playing for the Firechief Fire Extinguishers.

A nine-time league champion, and an awardee of Mr. Quality Minutes award twice from the PBA Press Corps, Tubid will join a list of former PBA players who became head coaches, joining the likes of Robert Jaworski, Mon Fernandez, Bogs Adornado, Rino Salazar, Freddie Webb, Alan Caidic, Franz Pumaren, Pido Jarencio, Eric Altamirano and Topex Robinson among others.
