Two in a row for Capital Basketball; Tito Rex’s Firewire cracks V-Cup win column

Capital Basketball notched its second win in as many games after subduing Saints, 104-95, while Tito Rex’s Firewire cracked the win column after outlasting F. Cura Industries, 85-78, in the V-Cup 40-and-Up Legends Tournament just recently at the West Rembo Coliseum in Taguig City.

Ex-PBA players Chico Lanete and Jojo Duncil exploded and combined for 51 points as Capital’s dynamic duo provided the Saints a double barrel headache.

A three-time PBA champion, Lanete erupted for 29 markers to go along with five assists and two steals.

Duncil, also a former PBA and UAAP titlists, complemented Lanete’s game and added 22 points, but three other players from Capital Basketball wound up in double figures in completing back-to-back victories.

Romeo Almerol posted yet another solid, all-around performance as he came away with a double-double showing of 15 points and 13 rebounds while also distributing five assists and completing four steals. Jap Revio and Andeng Querubin, each produced 14 markers to also provide the star players ample support as Capital Basketball unleashed its fluid fast breaking game.

The team scored 28 points coming off transition plays, which were 16 more than its counterpart.

Tito Rex’s Firewire averted losing two in a row after upending F. Cura Industries as Erwin Sta. Maria presided on his team’s offense. The former Mapua Cardinal submitted 21 points while also drawing solid support from his teammates.

Kaizer Galvez added 13 markers, while Jofferson Gonzales and former PBA player Eugene Tan produced 11 apiece as Tito Rex’s Firewire’s bench outplayed its rival, 49-32.
