Cowboys back on track; Sikat, Tatak Gel survive MPBL rivals

Frontcourt stalwarts Arth dela Cruz, Mark Dyke and Joshua Guiab conspired big while Gab Gomez provided the spark needed as the Ilagan Isabela Cowboys got back on the winning track with an 80-72 win over the Quezon City Galleries Taipan, 80-72, on Wednesday in the MPBL 2025 Season at the WES Arena in Valenzuela.

The trio of Dela Cruz, Dyke and Guiab combined for 29 second-half points , enabling the Cowboys to pull away, 70-55, en route to an even 3-3 slate in the round-robin elimination phase of the 30-team tournament.

Dela Cruz, the Cowboys’ top gun, posted yet another double-double performance 19 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.

Guiab added  14 points and eight boards while Dyke had his own double-double game of 10 points and 11 rebounds, allowing the Cowboys to snap back-to-back losses.

But it was Gomez, who provided the spark needed by the Cowboys as the dead shot wingman hit four three-point shots on his way to finishing with 14 points and eight boards.

Quezon City absorbed its defeat in five games.

Biñan outlasted host Valenzuela, 69-66, while Zamboanga survived Marikina, 75-74, in a pair of exciting matches.
