James Yap joins Blackwater practice, looks forward to play in Philippine Cup

TWO-time Philippine Basketball Association Most Valuable Player James Yap attended Blackwater’s practice on Thursday, pending his official inclusion in the roster.

Yap and Blackwater management are expected to close the deal on Friday, which will allow the playing Councilor from San Juan an opportunity to see action in the Philippine Cup starting February 28.

Just a week after he was released by Rain or Shine, several teams tried to pursue Yap and the Bossing are among those most persistent in including Yap to their roster.

Blackwater head coach Jeff Cariaso showed no reservations and was in full support of the management’s decision to tap the services of the seven-time PBA champion, who was included in the league’s 40 Greatest Players.

”Just to get him here on the first day and meet his teammates, and we wanted to make sure that he gets here as soon as he can,” Cariaso told PinoyStep.com.

“We started two weeks ago, so it means he’s two weeks behind. So he’s behind two weeks. I had a good meeting with him before practice and we’re excited that he’s here.”
