A plantar fasciitis injury had sidelined Migs Pascual the past few days, but San Sebastian’s strengthening team is fast tracking the talented guard’s return to game condition in time for the NCAA opener.
Pascual told Pinoystep.com that his injury is not serious as explained to him by Edward Bacason.
Bacason, who worked as physical therapist of several teams, including the San Miguel Beermen, had been helping Pascual ever since when he was in high school.
The physical therapist had seen similar types of injuries to players seeing action in the Philippine Basketball Association and reassured Pascual’s injury is a minor case.
The former Batang Gilas co-captain is confident he’ll be able to get back soon and help the team’s campaign in the league’s Centennial Season on September 7.
Pascual is continuously working out on his strengthening phase and therapy sessions, but was told that he could rejoin the squad’s full training session in a week or two.
“Ang explanation sa akin ng PT namin, nag-tight yung sa may calf area ko, kaya yung sumasalo ng injury yung sole ko, kaya yun ang sumasakit,” said Pascual. “Hindi ko siya pinapansin before kasi kaya ko namang ilaro, pero kung alam ko lang, sana ipinahinga ko na lang muna.”
Pascual purchased an insole in his shoes to ease the pressure on the injured foot.
Although he had already stopped from training for more than a week now, Pascual continued to work on his shooting to stay sharp, but the only problem he’s been experiencing so far is running where his fascia is being bothered more.
“Hopefully, makatulong yung insole. I’ll try to join the full practice next week once the insole will be available or a week before the season’s opening. I’m confident na makakalaro ako,” added Pascual. “Pero dito naman sa amin, nagsho-shooting pa rin ako. Medyo sumasakit lang kapag tumatakbo na.”
Much will be expected on Pascual, who sat out last season after transferring to San Sebastian as part of the league’s residence ruling, making himself available for this season’s NCAA wars.
